About
Prinz Grizzley channels Alt-Country, Americana, Blues, and Folk nestled in the heart of Austria’s stunning mountains, continuing to resonate deeply with audiences far beyond his alpine home. Chris Comper, the artist and driving force behind Prinz Grizzley, presents a unique musical tapestry that draws from the essence of “mountains, forests, stubbornness, warmth of heart, religiosity, and the simplicity of life.”
In his journey, Prinz Grizzley has delivered a remarkable body of work, including the EP "Wide Open Country" (2016) and the celebrated albums "Come On In" (2018), "To My Green Mountains Home" (2020), and most recently "Dear Leftovers" (2024). His live performances have carved a solid presence in the music scene, enchanting festival crowds and audiences across Ireland, England, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, and Italy. In 2018, Prinz Grizzley made a significant mark on US stages, performing at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and AmericanaFest in Nashville, followed by Folk Alliance International in Kansas City in 2024. An international milestone came with Seasick Steve’s "Can u Cook" tour, which featured Prinz Grizzley as the permanent support act through the most renowned venues across Europe and the UK. A recent crowning achievement in his live career was his performance at the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival in 2025, cementing his status as a world-class live performer.
The new album "Tilda," set for release on October 2, 2026, sees Prinz Grizzley leave the wide Americana trails to step closer to the listener. With these songs, the alpine storyteller takes a new, drastically stripped-back sonic path: he leaves behind the driving sound of a full Americana band and turns toward a dark, more intimate folk style. "Tilda" traces autobiographical threads from the lives of his grandparents—of war, loss, and new beginnings in a time when securities were and remained fragile. The tracks connect these historical experiences with a present day that is once again shaped by uncertainty, upheaval, and a latent sense of catastrophe. In this tension between the past and the here and now, a work emerges that reflects vulnerability and resilience side by side, without romanticizing them.
Prinz Grizzley stands as a beacon for those who seek solace in the raw honesty of Americana, offering a voice that bridges the vast landscapes of folk and country music. Join us for this exciting new chapter, as "Tilda" is set to resonate with both long-time fans and newcomers alike
